Joseph Buckley is completing a PhD in Anthropology at UCL. Having worked in policy at the Council for Assisting at Risk Academics, and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Joseph ran several high profile national policy initiatives at the British Academy. Joseph specialises in the Post-Soviet world, Central Asia, the economy in everyday life, and language.

Joseph holds a BA in Japanese from SOAS, University of London, and an MA in Linguistics from the University of Oxford. He speaks English, French, Spanish, Uzbek and Russian and is proficient in Japanese and Turkish.
